BOOK A SESSION

This week, we're talking about text functions—those cool tools that make words dance the way we want them to. No need for wizardry, just a bit of TEXTSPLIT, TEXTBEFORE, TEXTAFTER, LEFT, MID, and RIGHT.

Use these text functions as your tidy-up crew—they help clean up messy data and retrieve the text you need.

1. TEXTSPLIT: Break It Down!

Imagine your words are like Lego blocks in a tower. TEXTSPLIT helps you take them apart. If you have "Apple,Orange,Banana" in a cell, you can split them like this:

=TEXTSPLIT(A1, ",")

Result in three cells: šŸŽ šŸŠ šŸŒ

2. TEXTBEFORE: The Before Party

Ever wanted to know the first part of a message? TEXTBEFORE is your go-to host. Take a URL like "https://www.funwebsite.com" and get the "https" with:

=TEXTBEFORE(A1, ":")

Result: https

3. TEXTAFTER: The After Party

Now, what if you're curious about what comes after something? TEXTAFTER's got your back. Using the same URL, grab the "www" with:

=TEXTAFTER(A1, "www.")

Result: funwebsite.com

4. LEFT: The Start Show

Imagine a spotlight on the first part of a word. LEFT does that! From "Hello," pull the first three letters:

=LEFT(A1, 3)

Result: Hel

5. MID: The Middle Act

Ever wanted the juicy part in the middle? MID is your star. From "Candy," grab the middle three letters:

=MID(A1, 2, 3)

Result: and

6. RIGHT: The Grand Finale

And for the grand ending, RIGHT takes the last part. From "Giraffe," get the last four letters:

=RIGHT(A1, 4)

Result: affe

Wrap Up:

These functions are like magic wands for your words. Whether you're playing with lists, URLs, or just words, these tricks will make you the text maestro!

That's all for this week.

See you next week.
